In an effort to improve research opportunities for faculty, Weidenbaum Center staff work with the faculty in the Departments of Economics, Political Science, and Anthropology (and occasionally other Arts & Sciences Departments) to pinpoint opportunities and secure money for faculty research projects. Center staff assist with the preparation of proposals and budgets to individuals, foundations, and government programs such as National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institute of Health (NIH).
Grant administration such as accounting functions, coordination and verification with the University’s research office and sponsored research accounting office, university reporting functions, follow-on requests, and other administrative responsibilities of awarded grants are also handled by the Center. By relieving faculty of many of the administrative tasks associated with sponsored funding, the Center enables them to concentrate their efforts on their research projects . Thus, research grants are much more likely to be sought due to this partnership.
