The Weidenbaum Center cohosted a forum with the Federal
Reserve of St. Louis entitled "Challenges to Public
Education Financing Facing Missouri and the Nation."
This non-technical, full-day symposium included sessions
on public education funding formulas and the relationship
between funding and student achievement. There was considerable
discussion of these issues as they relate to Missouri
and of the current public education financing debate
occurring in the state. Participants included nationally
recognized scholars in the areas of school finance and
accountability as well as several public school superintendents
and Missouri state legislators. Proceedings from this
symposium are available below.
