The American Social Survey (TASS)
The Weidenbaum Center sponsors and directs The American Social Survey (TASS). TASS provides university faculty access to a national survey three times a year (November, March, and July). Faculty submit proposals for batteries of questions to be placed on TASS. Cutting-edge social science research problems and advanced survey methods are given priority on TASS.
TASS respondents represent a national probability sample. Each TASS survey involves a fresh sample of 1000 respondents drawn from the AmeriSpeak panel of about 35,000 people. Weights and response rates are provided with every survey dataset.
AmeriSpeak is a fairly new online survey unit of the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago. Researchers are encouraged to learn more at Amerispeak
