Survival of the Weakest: Why the West Rules

David Levine, European University Institute

David Levine, Professor of Microeconomics at the European University Institute and Professor Emeritus of Economics at Washington University in St. Louis, will be speaking on the topic of why the West became the first to industrialize.

The paper upon which Dr. Levine will base his presentation uses a game-theoretic evolutionary conflict model and a brief history of Europe, China, and India to make a point about how military strength (the cannon) of a hegemonic power slows technology/economic innovation.

A reception will follow the event.

Registration is not required for this event.  However, registrants receive directions and parking instructions via email the day of the event and updates on the event, if necessary.
