Mexican Security Challenges in the Trump Era

A presentation and discussion with Dr. Sandra Ley, an expert on the political consequences of criminal activity. Her research investigates criminal violence in Mexico and its impact on political behavior.

The Weidenbaum Center is thrilled to host Dr. Sandra Ley, Distinguished Professor in Political Science for the School of Social Sciences and Government, and for the School of Government and Public Transformation at the Technological Institute of Monterrey, Mexico. Dr. Ley will present her work on mexican security challenges in the Trump era. Light breakfast fare and beverages will be provided.

Between 2023 and 2024, Dr. Ley was the Coordinator of the Security Program at México Evalúa, a think tank and analysis center that focuses on the evaluation and monitoring of government operations to improve the quality of its results, where she developed a series of policy reports on victimization against the business sector, violence against political figures, militarization, the prison system and crime prevention programs in Mexico. She has conducted extensive field work in the north and south of Mexico, collaborating closely with different organizations and sectors of civil society.
