Wayde Z.C. Marsh

Weidenbaum Center Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Wayde Z.C. Marsh completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. He studies American political parties, public opinion, and elections and voting behavior and works with Professor Michael Olson (Political Science) and Professor Andrew Reeves (Political Science/Director, Weidenbaum Center). Professor Reeves and he will be working on a project investigating the motivations of local politicians. He also conducts research in the areas of political psychology, politics and religion, and racial and ethnic politics. His works has been published in American Politics Research and Politics, Groups, and Identities. His book project, The Politics of Trauma: Mass Tragedies in Polarized America, is based on on his dissertation and examines how polarization has driven American political parties to respond to traumatic events in increasingly divergent ways and why the mass public expects different political and partisan responses for different types of traumatic events.
